Chest, Back, and Cardio on a Rainy Friday!

Image
Happy Sunday Readers, This is Luke tuning back in for another recap of my favorite workout of the week. This week my workouts were a little different. I recently decided that I am going to focus a little bit more on building muscle mass and I am also going to train for a half marathon in February! I will be running the Austin Half marathon in three months with one of my roommates. This is going to require a lot of training but I am ready for it.  This week, I wanted to share a little bit about my strict strength training workouts. It is good to have balance when it comes to fitness and I wanted to share what I do at the gym when I am not attending CrossFit classes. Over the summer when I was working a full-time internship, I did not always have time to find classes that fit into my schedule, so I would focus on strength training on my own. On Friday, I decided that I was going to do a strength training exercise and end the day with some cardio.  Here is the workout: Warm...

Bench-pressing at the CrossFit Gym

Happy Sunday readers,  This is Luke tuning in for another blog about my favorite workout of the week. I am writing this blog on Sunday afternoon, a little later than usual. That is because this weekend was Homecoming on Baylor's campus! It has been a tremendous weekend from the bonfire on Friday to beating Kansas yesterday in football. My favorite part of this weekend was that my parents came to visit me and we got to get together with my best friend's family as well. Overall, it was a very busy and successful weekend of Baylor activities.  Getting into the workout of the week, my favorite workout was Monday's workout like last week. I believe that I like Monday workouts the most because it gets me going in the right state of mind for the week. That is, it gets me off my butt to get motivated and hyped up to work hard for the week. Like I have said in previous posts, going to CrossFit gives me an outlook to destress and to work on my physical and mental well-being. ...

Power Cleans on Monday Mornings

Happy Thursday Readers! This is Luke tuning in for another blog about CrossFit. I have decided to journal about Monday this week because of how much I enjoyed the workout. There was a lot of barbell use during yesterday's workout from the warmup to the finisher/conditioning. I am pretty sore today and have been doing a lot of hamstring and leg stretches to make sure I'm working on my flexibility and recovering my muscles.  This week I was not able to go to CrossFit as many times as I did last week as my workload has started to pick back up again. I was able to go on Monday and Wednesday but I will not be able to go tomorrow. As it is Fall Break, I am going to be going to Austin with my friends for a couple days. I will be giving my body a rest for a few days to recover from being pretty consistent with workouts for the past month. It will be nice to do something new this weekend since life has been pretty busy for the entire semester.  Here was the Workout of the Day fr...

Pull-Ups and Power Snatches on Friday Afternoons

Image
TGIF! Hello readers, I hope everyone is just excited for the weekend as I am. This week has been pretty laid back in comparison to last week which is nice. Most people have been taking their midterms this week, but I took all of mine last week. It seems like my test scheduling has been almost opposite to most of my friends as they have been grinding hard on studying this week while I have gotten to take a bit of a break and catch up on some stuff.  Having some time off this week has allowed me to go to more CrossFit classes than I usually do. This afternoon, I went to CrossFit and it was my favorite workout of the week, so I will be running you guys through today's workout of the day. What I liked about today's workout in comparison to Monday and Wednesday was that it was not a partner workout. It is fun to have a partner to complete the workouts sometimes, but I also just like doing things at my own pace sometimes. Today's workouts involved a lot of barbells. We did lots...

Box Jumping on Wednesday Afternoons

Happy Friday! This is Luke tuning in with another CrossFit update for the week. This has been one of my busiest weeks of college this year. I know I said that last week too, but I swear that every week gets busier as we progress throughout the year. I spent last weekend at my desk studying and grinding for three tests on Tuesday. This was not the most ideal way to spend my weekend, but I can confidently say that my hard work paid off on my tests! There is nothing more rewarding than working your butt off on studying and getting all the grades back that you wanted.  This analogy ties very well into CrossFit as well. You begin the workout, push your body to the limits, and by the end you are very satisfied with what you just accomplished. I am going to talk about this past 'Workout Wednesday' because that was the hardest workout we did this week. Like I said in my first blog, Workout Wednesdays are always partnered workouts, which makes it pretty fun but also twice as hard....

Toes-To-Bar Tuesdays at Train Waco

Hello there! Are you as excited as I am that it is almost the weekend? I don't know about you, but this has been one of the busiest weeks have had in my three years of college so far... Yikes! I will spare you all of the little details on why my week has been so busy, but I have to say that Business Law is no joke of a class.  My favorite CrossFit workout of the week was on Tuesday. I believe that this was my favorite day to workout because it was my busiest day. I started off my morning with a Business Law Exam at 9:30 and had two presentations in the afternoon. By the end of the day, I was very tired and a little stressed out from my day. On top of my plethora of schoolwork this week, I have also had a lot of obligations in my extracurriculars. I run a couple different social media accounts for some organizati...

Rowing Through Workout Wednesday

Image
Happy Friday! This is Luke here tuning in to tell you about my favorite CrossFit workout this week. One of my favorite days of the week at CrossFit is Wednesdays. The reason I look forward to this mid-week workout is because it is always a partner workout day. This means that you get to do the workout with one of your friends and incentivizes you to work in a team setting. Out of my friend group at Baylor, I am the only one in my group that goes to CrossFit workouts. This has gotten me to broaden my friend range and make new friends through group workouts at the gym for the past few years.  This past Wednesday's workout was great. For starters, I would like to mention that I was pretty stressed and tired before I went to the gym that day. With the school year well on its way (as its Mid-September now), there is a lot of pressure to complete projects, study for exams, and to engage in all of the extracurriculars that comes along with being a college student. This was a day in partic...
